About kapok
Did you know that kapok shares many properties with wool? Kapok perfectly regulates temperature and is also a moisture-wicking fibre! It is a soft, natural fibre that comes from the seeds of the wild kapok tree. The kapok fibre contains 80% air, making it the lightest plant fibre in existence (kapok is 8 times lighter than cotton). All kapok items are therefore wonderfully light. The kapok fibre is surrounded by a thin wax layer that ensures kapok does not absorb moisture. This means kapok never feels wet, even if you sweat a lot, for example. The kapok fibre is naturally bitter, making it antibacterial and resistant to dust mites. This is also why kapok can be grown without pesticides. Fun fact: by choosing a kapok product, you are also investing in the preservation of the rainforest and supporting the local communities that live there.
