About Klean Kanteen

Klean Kanteen is a close-knit family business from California, and pioneers in the design and production of sustainable canteens. It's hard to imagine now, but in the early 2000s, you couldn't buy a reusable stainless steel water bottle. Plastic was practically the only option. When Klean Kanteen sold the first BPA-free stainless steel bottles in 2004, they hoped a few people would use them. Today, you can find reusable water bottles and coffee mugs everywhere. Klean Kanteen has since become the international brand and has inspired dozens of other companies to make reusable stainless steel products. They don't mind this, as their original goal (no more single-use plastic) is getting closer. Despite rapid developments, Klean Kanteen has always remained a family and employee-owned business. The freedom to stay true to its principles is worth more to Klean Kanteen than bringing in investors. For example, to spend a few years developing a groundbreaking, non-toxic, scratch-resistant powder coating (and they succeeded!). From the very beginning, Klean Kanteen bottles have been made with love: a love for adventure, a love for preserving wild places, and a love for replacing single-use plastic.
