Every day, the laziest and dirtiest donkey in Nazareth has to fetch water from the well. He is accompanied by an even lazier servant who always beats him but never brushes him. Mary also fetches water from the well, and a friendship develops between her and the donkey. It is this very donkey that Joseph buys for Mary. The other animals in the stable tell him their big secret, and the donkey has never been so happy.
