About kapok
Did you know that kapok has many properties similar to wool? Kapok perfectly regulates temperature and is also a moisture-wicking fiber! It is a soft, natural fiber that comes from the seeds of the wild kapok tree. The kapok fiber contains 80% air, making it the lightest plant fiber in existence (kapok is 8 times lighter than cotton). All kapok items are therefore wonderfully light. The kapok fiber is covered with a thin wax layer that ensures kapok does not absorb moisture. This means kapok never feels wet, even if you sweat a lot, for example. The kapok fiber is naturally bitter, making it antibacterial and resistant to dust mites. This is also why kapok can be grown without pesticides. Fun fact: if you choose a kapok product, you are also investing in the preservation of the rainforest and supporting the local population living there.
